Maria Fogg Family Law Marches with Savera UK

On 27th September, Maria Fogg Family Law was pleased to sponsor the annual Savera UK march, held in Liverpool to raise awareness of harmful practices and so-called “honour”-based abuse.

Savera UK march

A Day of Awareness and Solidarity

The march began in Liverpool city centre and brought together survivors, community members, professionals and partner organisations. Walking side by side, participants demonstrated a shared determination to challenge abuse, safeguard those at risk and support the ongoing work of Savera UK.

Community Support

The event was strongly supported by civic and community leaders, including the Merseyside Police & Crime Commissioner, whose presence underlined the importance of a multi-agency approach to protecting those at risk. The involvement of police, legal professionals, and charities showed how vital it is for different sectors to work together to achieve lasting change.

Importance of Awareness

The presence of survivors at the forefront of the march was a powerful reminder of why awareness and continued action are so important. Their courage in speaking out has been central to shining a light on harmful practices that are too often hidden from public view.

Spreading awareness

The Cultural Event at the Bombed Out Church

Following the march, a cultural event was hosted at Liverpool’s iconic Bombed Out Church. The gathering featured music, performance and community contributions, offering a creative space to celebrate resilience while reflecting on the challenges that remain.

Education and Culture

This event brought together both education and culture, highlighting the value of awareness-raising that goes beyond traditional forums. By combining serious messages with art, music and performance, it created a memorable experience that engaged all who attended and reinforced the importance of community in bringing about change.
