New Pilot to Boost Rape Victims Support

The government has launched a new pilot to boost support for rape victims in court in England and Wales.

Rape victims will receive enhanced support at 3 Crown Courts under a new pilot scheme launched by the government on the 16 June 2022 as part of efforts to drive up prosecutions and convictions. Charlotte Fogg a Director at Maria Fogg Family Law commented: “having represented victims of domestic abuse in court and seeing first hand the distress giving evidence has on the victims mental health this pilot is very much needed and welcomed. The pilot provides funding to train all court staff, police and prosecutors in handling sensitive cases as well as providing support to the victims with an enhanced specialist sexual violence advocate. Hopefully this support will be rolled out across all the Courts in England and Wales”.
